I did not create myself
Did not decide to show myself upon the Earth
Yet here I am
The birthmark on my right arm looking like a dwarf planet
My hamstrings as tight as the day is long
I don’t know how I got here
Or maybe I do
I got here with you
Following the same trail of stardust and DNA
Arriving on these shores
Breathing in the dewy air of the first morning
Aware of how cool and wet it is
And of how precious and fragile we are
You and I, here on this shore
